American Numismatic Society

The American Numismatic Society is an organization dedicated to the study of coins, currency, medals, tokens, and related objects from all cultures, past and present. The Society’s headquarters in New York City has the foremost research collection and library specialized in numismatics in the United States. These resources are used to support research and education in numismatics, for the benefit of academic specialists, serious collectors, professional numismatists, and the interested public.

Visiting

For information about visiting to conduct research, please read our information for visitors. Please note that arranging an appointment in advance is necessary for research in the collections or archives, and recommended for use of the library.

The main ANS exhibition is on view at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The ANS also has a small exhibit space at its own building, with changing displays of a small selection of items. Please note that these exhibits are at different locations; for further information on visiting them, read our information for visitors. We are also making some of our current and former exhibits viewable on this website.
